ASG/BCRC CAMISOLE ASSEMBLY
Instructions by Donna Root, ASG member
DO NOT TAKE OFF OR USE 5/8 SEAMS. SERGED EDGES ARE TO BE RIGHT ON THE EDGE.
Use a double-eyed needle to finish off serger threads. DO NOT USE FRAY CHECK.
Pre-Assembly Preparation (using the serger)
Inside Pockets
Serge the top and center-front-facing edges. ***
Serge the top straight edge and bottom edges. ***
*** Be sure you lay out the top and bottom pockets so you have a right and left side (right sides out).
Do not serge the side of the bottom pocket (to be matched to the side seam of the front camisole piece) and do not serge the bottom of the bottom pocket. These edges will be serged later in the assembly of the camisole.
Do not serge the side and do not serge the center front edge of the top pocket as these edges will be serged when later in the assembly of the camisole.
Back & Front Pieces
I also serge the top back straight edge and front center neckline at this time.
Attaching the Pockets to the Inside Front
of Camisole (using the sewing machine)
With wrong sides together, line up each top pocket
with the armhole and the front center seam.
Sew across the bottom serged edge with a straight stitch. Leave top edge open.
With wrong sides together, line up the side seam and bottom
edge of the camisole with the
un-serged side and bottom of the bottom pocket.
Sew, with a straight stitch, along the serged side (center-front-facing edge). Leave top edge open.
Attaching the ASG/BCRC Garment
Label (using the sewing machine)
On the right side (outside) of the back camisole piece, measure down approximately 1 inch from the center and sew the ASG/BCRC label on all sides, using a straight stitch.
Using a black fine point Sharpie pen, write the size (S, M, L, or XXL) and corresponding measurement (~36, ~40, ~44, or ~48) on the label.
Assembly of Camisole Side
Seams, Leaving 4 Slit at Bottom of Each Side Seam (using the serger and the
sewing machine)

YOU WILL MAKE THE SEAM ON THE OUTSIDE OF THE GARMENT.
Sewing machine: Sew a Ό side seam, using a straight stitch. STOP 4 FROM THE BOTTOM EDGE (forming the slit). Fold the seam to one side and top stitch the seam using a straight stitch.
Serger: Serge around armholes, center front, and bottom.

Attaching the Bow (using the sewing machine)
To make bow, cut Ό ribbon 10 long. Tie a half knot at each end of the ribbon. Tie ribbon into a bow.
On the top of the outside right front center (at the neck), use a wide zig-zag stitch and sew the bow in place (about 6-8 stitches close together).
